IMHO, Run shielded Cat 5/6/7... EVERYWHERE! That gets you 4 balanced taps you can put all over the place. You can send 4 Analog mic/line per run, or Dante/AVB, HDMI over Cat... etc. to locations all over the place and it is REALLY cheap and easy to make/terminate lines. Drop a CAT outlet with a couple of runs to it every 8 to 12 feet on your walls. Breakouts are cheap and easy to build. Also for big analog snakes, just build little 6-8" boxes along the length of the wall on the floor, Radiating out from a main Patch Panel for ALL Control Room Connections. Cut a vertical slot about 2" wide every 8 feet or so to run cables out and a hinged cover (just a board) on top for access. Then you can just run out sub snakes through this trough and it keeps all the lines hidden.

This is all awesome advice, I am in the networking/collaborating phase but I have had some clients and potentially more so I can see the goals and stuff in the future (I am in a bedroom I made a amateurish studio) I am looking into upgrading my mic to a more pro grade mic but hearing you say maybe something mid range could be good too. The treated room thing I worked on that too but could be better but yeah I am like starting out slowly, thanks for this vid!

Thank you Jeremy - a really excellent video. Here are a couple of questions. What do you use to charge people for services on the website? Do you will with Quickbooks or do you use something else? We are at the stage in our studio where we have it ready to start with clients but we are still trying to decide how to bill people. We just got a cube - but not sure if this is something that we will like. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Again we love your discussions! (I guess it is not a couple of questions - lol).

I taught at GC for 6 months. It was a depressing job. My boss was condescending and exercised favoritism to the extreme. I never had more than 5 students a week in 6 months. She gave her "friend" the majority of the available drum students. So I went and got a teaching job at School of Rock and I started out with 30 to 50 students a week. Then she told me that my 2nd job was a conflict of interest and tried to fire me. So I reaigned. And 3 of the 5 students followed me.

One machine plays back audio that is all sent via Dante virtual sound card outputs through the other other machine that is set up to catch those as corresponding inputs. Lag is 4ms. And I have 64x64 channels.

Last year, I was looking to upgrade from a 2-way to a 3-way monitor setup. I certainly agree that most brands of monitors have "their own sound". Considering that I had been on a set of Adam A7X's for several years, I was certainly dialed in to "their sound". When Adam released the new A8H's as their flagship monitor in the A-Series ... and it was around half the price of the Focal's ... I had to go with the new Adam's. I don't use any of the fancy DSP stuff either, and if you wanted a more apples-to-apples comparison- the Focal's probably more closely line up with Adam's S3V's. Any of those choices are a top-notch 3-way monitor for the vast majority of studios. Great review my man!

Well i think WARM is the most ambiguous word used to define a sonic character. As I read in the comments, warm is a different thing for each one of us. For me the FET was definitely the "warmer" that meaning, less bright and bity, slower transient response, or less attack you might say, maybe "creamier". The tube to me had more top end, "open" you might say, I felt a less compressed sound. "warm " would´t be the adjective i´d use for the tube.. I dont know, for me "warm" is like the bridge pickup of a strat vs all the others, definitely more bottom end and less bity,. Would love to hear your thoughts though as I´m not a native english speaker.

This kind of content is endlessly fascinating. You’ll get more views with less camera motion. I’m sure you’ll get it figured out and I look forward to your next one!

So at about 34:45 in, they talk about used gear markup. So GC, vs a pawn shop percentage, what both may would offer vs realistic resale value. What the GC employee says in this video, has not been my experience at all. I took a Fender DG8S NAT acoustic, modern day equivalent would be the CC-60S NAT, because it also has the rosewood fingerboard $199.99 new. So my DG8S is a China made 2010 model, who cares, its a beginners acoustic, fabulous condition mind you. It could sale for $120 maybe more at GC. I wanted to sale, and GC offered me $20. Two different pawn shops offered me $50. That was several years ago. I kept it, still have it. So maybe that's a regional thing, my local GC has offered me peanuts 2 or 3 times for used guitars. Down here I'm a pawn shop dude when I'm in the market for a used guitar, which is all I can afford. I do my own repairs, setup, upgrades etc. GS is a place I seldom go, and its only to gawk at a guitar I dream of owning. I've even started buying my strings online.

I like the Three way’s because of that midrange focus mode. That’s the most important part of the mix.
